Hague Convention Countries (Accepting the Apostille)

For a UK issued document, if you find the country that your document is to be used on the list below, then the FCO Apostille alone should suffice. There is no requirement for additional attestation by the respective UK based Embassy/Consulate.

Otherwise, you will need to get an embassy legalisation which is a two-step process which require an apostille from both the FCO and the consular representation of the country in which the document is to be used.

  • France: Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Reunion Islands, New Caledonia Islands, Wallis Islands and Futuna Islands, Saint Pierre, Miquelon, French Polynesia
  • Portugal: All overseas territories
  • The Netherlands: Aruba, Curaçao, Saint Maarten
  • UK: Isle of Jersey, Isle of Guernsey, Isle of Man, Cayman Islands, Bermuda Islands, Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Montserrat, Saint Helena, Anguilla, Turks and Caicos Islands, British Virgin Islands
